Cley Next the Sea sits on the Glaven, east of Blakeney. Morston does not invent a third clock for Cley. It follows Blakeney Quay: about fifteen minutes after the Pit, the Bar, and Morston Quay.
That is the useful distinction. The BHA booklet is the harbour. Cley is not the harbour. If you read a Blakeney Harbour high water and stand at Cley, you are on the quay clock’s cousins — late by a quarter of an hour, and in much less water.
There is not a Pit here. The channel is narrower, the marshes take over, and a small neap does not give you harbour sailing. The window is still daylight around this later high water, for the people who do use the Glaven — not a promise of deep water under the village.
